Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Warm water

For the filling:

  • 1 cup minced chicken
  • 1 cup finely chopped vegetables (cabbage, onions, carrots, etc.)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For pan-frying:

  • Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add warm water while kneading to form a smooth and elastic dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  2. Make the Filling: In another bowl, combine the minced chicken, finely chopped vegetables, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form the Wrappers: Divide the dough into small portions. Dust your work surface with flour and roll each portion into thin circular wrappers, about 3 to 4 inches in diameter. Ensure the edges are slightly thicker than the center to hold the filling.
  4. Fill the Wrappers: Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half to form a half-moon shape, and pinch the edges together to seal.
  5. Pan-Fry the Momos: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add enough cooking oil to coat the bottom. Arrange the momos in a single layer without touching each other. Cook undisturbed until the bottoms turn golden and crisp.
  6. Steam the Momos: Flip the momos, then pour a small amount of water into the pan, enough to cover the bottom by about half an inch. Immediately cover the pan with a lid to trap the steam. Steam the momos for about 8 to 10 minutes.
