Lucas Museum Announces First Star Wars-Themed Exhibit Showcasing Iconic Film Vehicles

Date:

The upcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art has revealed exciting details about its first-ever exhibition dedicated to the legendary Star Wars universe. Timed around the globally celebrated Star Wars Day, the museum introduced its debut installation titled Star Wars in Motion, offering fans a closer look at some of the saga’s most memorable vehicles.

This special exhibit will form part of the museum’s larger inaugural Cinema showcase and will explore the evolution and design of transportation featured in the first six Star Wars films created by George Lucas. From high-speed racers to massive transport machines and futuristic flying crafts, the display aims to highlight how motion and engineering shaped storytelling within the iconic franchise.

Visitors can expect to see representations and insights into famous vehicles such as Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder from Episode IV – A New Hope and General Grievous’ unique wheel bike from Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. These elements will demonstrate how cinematic imagination brought distant galaxies and advanced technology to life.

The Star Wars installation will be part of a much broader opening lineup when the museum officially launches on September 22. With over 30 curated exhibits, the institution aims to present a comprehensive journey through visual storytelling across history. The collection spans ancient sculptures, Renaissance art, classic illustrations, comics, photography, and modern cinema.

Curated by George Lucas alongside Mellody Hobson, the museum’s opening exhibitions will feature more than 1,200 objects displayed across 30 galleries, covering approximately 100,000 square feet of space. Themes will include cultural storytelling, architecture, historical narratives, and artistic evolution, with works from renowned creators such as Frank Frazetta, Norman Rockwell, N.C. Wyeth, and Jesse Willcox Smith.

Blending cinematic history with artistic expression, the museum promises to deliver an immersive experience for fans of film, art, and storytelling alike. The Star Wars-themed exhibit is expected to be a major highlight, offering a nostalgic yet educational journey into one of the most influential film franchises ever created.
