Healthy Veggie Burger is the ultimate guilt-free snack for burger lovers who don’t want to compromise on taste or health. This unique Indian-style burger is packed with nourishing ingredients like aloe vera, amla, and boiled potatoes, giving it a wholesome punch without processed patties or high-fat dressings. Using a whole-wheat bun and a crunchy potato bonda filling, this burger is a fusion of street-style flavor and nutritious goodness.

Total Time: 28 minutes
Preparation Time: 8 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serving Size: 2 Burgers
Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 2 boiled potatoes
  • 2 cups besan (gram flour)
  • 1 tsp turmeric (haldi) powder
  • 5g curry leaves
  • A pinch of hing (asafoetida)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • Refined oil for deep frying
  • 1 tsp amla pulp or powder
  • 1 tbsp aloe vera pulp
  • 1/2 cup suji (semolina)
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 2 whole-wheat burger buns

Step-by-Step Instructions to Make Healthy Burger:

  1. Prepare the Bonda Filling:
Heat a pan and add a little oil. Once hot, add chopped ginger, curry leaves, and coriander seeds. Sauté for 1 minute. Now mix in turmeric, curry powder, amla, aloe vera, and hing. Stir well.
  2. Add grated boiled potatoes to the mixture, season with salt, and cook for a minute. Turn off the flame, let the mixture cool, then shape into small round balls.
  3. Prepare the Bun:
Slice the whole-wheat buns and toast the cut sides lightly on a pan with a bit of butter or ghee until golden and crisp.
  4. Make the Batter:
In a bowl, mix gram flour (besan), suji, haldi, and salt with enough water to form a thick batter. Dip each potato ball into the batter and deep-fry in hot oil until crisp and golden. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Assemble the Burger:
Spread a layer of mayonnaise (or hung curd for a healthier option) on the bottom bun. Place lettuce or spinach leaves, followed by the crispy potato bonda. Add onion rings, tomato slices, or any salad of your choice. Close the burger with the top half of the bun.
  6. Serve hot with mint chutney or tomato ketchup for a delicious and healthy meal!
