Adam Scott recently shared a surprising story from his early career, revealing that he attempted to return to the Hellraiser franchise even after his character had already been killed off.
During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Severance actor recalled auditioning for Hellraiser: Hellseeker despite having played Jacques in Hellraiser: Bloodline, where his character met his end.
Scott explained that when his agent sent him the audition, he immediately realized the contradiction. Still, driven by the need for work, he decided to go ahead anyway, hoping the casting team might overlook his previous appearance in the franchise. He humorously admitted that his mindset at the time was simply to take the chance and see if no one would notice.
The actor also described a tense moment while waiting for his audition. He spotted a producer from the earlier film and tried to avoid being recognized, even going as far as shielding his face with papers in hopes of slipping through unnoticed if his performance impressed the team.
Despite his efforts, Scott did not land the role. However, he reflected positively on his involvement in the franchise, noting that at the time of his original casting, he was simply excited to secure an acting job, regardless of his familiarity with the series.
The Hellraiser series, inspired by Clive Barker’s novella The Hellbound Heart, has grown into a long-running horror franchise spanning over a decade of films, with its most recent installment released in 2022.
