AirDrop-Like File Sharing via Quick Share Reaches More Android Flagships

Recent developments suggest that cross-platform file sharing is becoming smoother, as an AirDrop-style feature using Quick Share is now appearing on more Android devices. Reports indicate that flagship models like the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra have started receiving this functionality through software updates.

This feature essentially bridges the gap between Android and iOS ecosystems by allowing users to share files directly with Apple devices using AirDrop-like behavior. Instead of relying on third-party apps, users can now transfer photos, videos, and documents more seamlessly between platforms.

To use this functionality, iPhone users need to temporarily enable AirDrop visibility by setting it to “Everyone.” Once enabled, the iPhone becomes discoverable within the Quick Share interface on supported Android devices. After that, file transfers can occur in both directions. While the convenience factor is high, transfer speeds may not match the performance of native AirDrop or Android-to-Android sharing.

Initially introduced on newer Pixel devices and later expanded to Samsung’s Galaxy lineup, this capability is now gradually rolling out to other brands. The inclusion of Oppo and Vivo devices suggests that broader adoption across Android manufacturers may happen soon, making cross-device communication simpler for users worldwide.

Although not officially announced by all brands, the feature appears to be activated through recent updates, hinting at a quiet but significant shift in how file sharing between ecosystems could evolve in the near future.
