Apple has started rolling out the iOS 18.5 Public Beta 1 update for iPhone users ahead of the anticipated official release expected in May just before WWDC 2025. Although this update is relatively minor it introduces subtle but useful changes to the Mail app and AppleCare settings interface enhancing overall user experience and accessibility.
Among the key features introduced is the ability to toggle Contact Photos and Group by Sender options directly within the Mail app’s user interface. Previously these features were buried deep within the iPhone’s Settings menu but are now conveniently accessible through a three-dot menu at the top right corner of the Mail app. Users can also disable categories and AI-based message sorting directly from the same menu offering more control over their inbox appearance and functionality.
Additionally the AppleCare and Warranty Coverage section has received a visual refresh. Users can now navigate to Settings > General > AppleCare and Warranty to find a more detailed layout presenting device coverage details including purchased plans and options for managing them. A new link under each listed device within the Apple Account section allows iPhone owners to view and modify their AppleCare coverage directly.
These enhancements were earlier seen in the iOS 18.5 Developer Beta and now make their way to public testers. While no major feature updates have been announced this version serves as a cleanup and usability-focused patch as Apple begins to prepare for the upcoming launch of iOS 19.
As WWDC 2025 approaches expectations are high for bigger changes coming to Apple’s mobile operating system but for now iOS 18.5 Public Beta 1 provides incremental improvements that cater to customization and ease of use.
