Arsenal and Liverpool’s Missed Opportunities: 10-Man Liverpool Draws 2-2 with Fulham, Arsenal Held 0-0 by Everton

Date:

Arsenal and Liverpool both failed to capitalize on their Premier League matches this weekend. Liverpool, playing with ten men, managed a 2-2 draw against Fulham, marking their second consecutive match with dropped points and offering hope to their title contenders. Meanwhile, Arsenal missed a significant opportunity by drawing 0-0 at home against struggling Everton, leaving them in third place and six points behind Liverpool.

Arsenal players Thomas Partey and Jorginho appeared dejected after the match, which ended in a goalless draw against Everton. Liverpool, despite being reduced to ten men following Andy Robertson’s red card in the 17th minute, showed resilience. They secured a point at Anfield but could have potentially secured a win after Diogo Jota’s equalizer in the 86th minute.

Fulham took an early lead when Andreas Pereira’s volley deflected into the net off Robertson, who was sent off minutes later for a last-man foul on Harry Wilson. Liverpool equalized through Cody Gakpo’s header from a Mohamed Salah cross, marking Salah’s 100th assist for the club. Fulham regained the lead with Rodrigo Muniz’s flick in the 76th minute, but Jota responded by turning his marker and finishing from the edge of the area.

Arsenal’s recent form has been inconsistent, with another draw following last weekend’s 1-1 result against Fulham. Wolverhampton’s manager Gary O’Neil faces increasing pressure after a damaging 2-1 defeat to Ipswich, with Jack Taylor scoring the winner in stoppage time. Wolves have only two league victories this season and are struggling near the bottom of the table.

O’Neil’s frustration was evident after a recent 2-1 loss to West Ham, where he criticized the club’s ownership for selling top players over the past two years. The team’s poor form has led to discontent among fans, with boos heard at Molineux as Wolves remain in next-to-last place.

In other matches, Ruud van Nistelrooy experienced his first loss as Leicester’s manager in a heavy 4-0 defeat to Newcastle. Jacob Murphy scored twice, Alexander Isak added his seventh goal of the season, and Bruno Guimaraes completed the scoring.
