Avengers: Endgame is set to return to theatres in 2026, creating a major buzz among Marvel fans as it positions itself between two high-profile MCU releases—Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Contrary to rumours, this special release has no connection to Avengers: Secret Wars being moved. Instead, Marvel Studios aims to capitalise on the rising excitement surrounding its next phase by bringing back its most iconic blockbuster. Endgame remains the second-highest-grossing film in global box office history.
The film will make its theatrical comeback in September 2026, seven years after its first release. Its return will fall neatly between Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled for July 31, 2026, and Avengers: Doomsday, set for December 18, 2026. The Russo Brothers—directors of both Endgame and Doomsday—officially confirmed the news through an Instagram announcement, expressing their excitement to showcase the film once again on the big screen.
Originally released on April 26, 2019, Avengers: Endgame served as the direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and marked the 22nd entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film grossed nearly $2.8 billion worldwide, briefly claiming the title of highest-grossing movie before Avatar regained the top position through multiple re-releases. As it currently stands, Endgame trails Avatar by roughly $126 million. With its upcoming re-release, the film has a strong chance of surpassing Avatar—especially if it achieves a financial boost similar to Avatar’s cumulative earnings from past re-releases, which exceeded $170 million. Success at this scale could potentially push Endgame toward becoming the first movie to cross the $3 billion global mark.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Endgame features a massive ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
