The global awards season reaches another major milestone with the 79th British Academy Film Awards BAFTA 2026 bringing cinema’s biggest names together in London. This year’s ceremony promises glamour powerful performances and major wins with Indian star Alia Bhatt adding a special moment as she takes the stage as one of the official presenters. For film lovers in India the good news is that the entire event can be watched live from home.

BAFTA 2026 is scheduled to take place on February 22 at London’s iconic Royal Festival Hall. Actor and presenter Alan Cumming will host the prestigious ceremony for the first time guiding audiences through a night of awards fashion and memorable speeches. Alia Bhatt will attend the ceremony as a presenter marking another milestone in her growing international presence.

Indian viewers can stream the BAFTA Awards 2026 live on SonyLIV as well as on the official British Academy Film Awards YouTube channel. The event will also be available on Lionsgate Play. As the ceremony begins at around 7pm GMT viewers in India can tune in during the early hours of Monday February 23 with the live broadcast expected to start at approximately 12.30am IST.

The presenter lineup features an impressive mix of global stars including Michael B Jordan Glenn Close Gillian Anderson Cillian Murphy Kate Hudson Kerry Washington Riz Ahmed Sadie Sink and Stormzy among many others. Adding to the night’s highlights will be the first international performance of Golden from Kpop Demon Hunters by Jae Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami along with a special musical tribute by Jessie Ware during the In Memoriam segment.

On the nominations front Paul Thomas Anderson’s political satire One Battle After Another leads BAFTA 2026 with 14 nominations making it one of the most recognised films of the year. Ryan Coogler’s historical horror film Sinners follows closely with 13 nominations marking a record-breaking moment in BAFTA history for a Black filmmaker.

Several films remain strong contenders across categories including Hamnet and Marty Supreme with 11 nominations each while Frankenstein and Sentimental Value earned eight nominations apiece. Acting categories see tough competition with nominees such as Leonardo DiCaprio Timothée Chalamet Michael B Jordan Emma Stone Jessie Buckley and Carey Mulligan vying for top honours.

With high-profile films celebrated performances and global stars in attendance BAFTA Awards 2026 is set to be a must-watch night for cinema fans worldwide including audiences across India.
