The Board of Control for Cricket in India has expressed serious concern over several incidents that have taken place during the 2026 Indian Premier League season. Following multiple controversies involving players team officials and unauthorised individuals the cricket board is preparing to introduce stricter rules and enforcement measures for all franchises.

According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia the governing body has noticed several “irregularities and anomalies” in the behavior and management practices of certain IPL teams and players. In response an official advisory is being issued to all ten franchises outlining the violations observed this season and the expected conduct moving forward.

One of the incidents that drew major attention involved Riyan Parag who was seen vaping during a match-related moment captured on camera. The act triggered criticism from former cricketers and fans who argued that professional athletes should maintain a responsible public image especially considering their influence on young audiences.

Another controversy involved a Rajasthan Royals staff member allegedly using a mobile phone in a restricted area near the players’ dugout where such devices are prohibited under league protocols. Concerns have also emerged regarding the movement of unauthorised individuals accompanying players at hotels dressing rooms and other restricted zones during the tournament.

The BCCI is particularly focused on maintaining its anti-corruption safeguards. Officials believe unrestricted access and unofficial interactions could risk the leakage of sensitive team information and compromise league integrity. The board has reportedly observed team owners officials and guests entering areas where access is normally limited under tournament regulations.

Saikia stated that these breaches are being treated with utmost seriousness and warned that any future violations could result in strict disciplinary measures from both the BCCI and IPL authorities. The upcoming advisory is expected to reinforce operational guidelines security protocols and conduct expectations for everyone associated with the tournament.

As IPL 2026 continues to attract global attention the BCCI appears determined to preserve the professionalism credibility and integrity of one of the world’s biggest cricket leagues by tightening rules around player conduct and franchise operations.
