Actress Bella Thorne has spoken out about a troubling on-set experience involving veteran actor Mickey Rourke, calling it one of the worst incidents she has ever faced in her career. The incident allegedly took place during the filming of a movie they both worked on in 2020. While Thorne didn’t directly name the film, it is believed she was referring to Girl, in which the two actors starred together.
Taking to Instagram and X, Thorne accused Rourke of engaging in highly inappropriate behavior during the shoot. She recalled filming a scene where she was restrained on her knees with her hands tied behind her back. In the scripted scene, Rourke was expected to bring a metal grinder near her knee. However, Thorne claimed that he deliberately misused the prop, applying it to her genital area through her jeans, repeatedly hitting her and leaving bruises on her pelvic bone.
“This man used a metal grinder on my genitals during a scene. I had bruises. It was horrifying,” Thorne wrote. She further stated that Rourke made the shoot unbearable with multiple instances of harassment. In another disturbing revelation, she said that during his final scene, Rourke accelerated his car to intentionally spray dirt all over her, laughing while the crew looked on.
Adding to the trauma, Thorne said she was forced to enter Rourke’s trailer alone to convince him to continue filming because he had refused to communicate with the director or producers. “I had to beg him alone in his trailer. He made demands, yelled at the team, and humiliated me in front of everyone,” she shared.
Her social media posts came in the wake of Rourke’s recent homophobic comments directed at singer and dancer JoJo Siwa, which also drew widespread criticism. In the same post, Thorne wrote, “This f***ing dude. GROSS,” alongside an image of Rourke.
In response, Mickey Rourke’s representatives issued a statement acknowledging Thorne’s claims. “These are deeply troubling allegations. Mr. Rourke adamantly denies any intentional wrongdoing. He was never made aware of any discomfort from Ms. Thorne at the time. Given the seriousness of these accusations, Mr. Rourke will not make further comments but is open to cooperating with any inquiry,” the statement read.
The situation has reignited discussions on safety, respect, and accountability in the film industry. Fans and celebrities alike are rallying behind Thorne for her courage in speaking out.
