Border 2 continues its strong box office run in India as the war drama records impressive earnings on day 17. After a slight slowdown during the weekdays the film bounced back over the weekend collecting close to ₹7 crore on Sunday alone. As per early trade estimates the Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan starrer has now crossed ₹309 crore nett in India since its theatrical release on January 23.
The film opened to massive numbers earning ₹224.25 crore in its first week followed by ₹70.15 crore in the second week. On day 15 Border 2 collected ₹2.85 crore while day 16 saw a jump to ₹5.25 crore. Day 17 added another ₹6.59 crore nett pushing the total domestic collection to approximately ₹309.09 crore. With screenings running across nearly 85000 shows nationwide the film’s domestic gross has reached around ₹361.94 crore.
With this milestone Border 2 has surpassed the lifetime India collections of several major blockbusters. The film has already overtaken Dhoom 3 and Sultan and has now crossed the ₹303 crore mark achieved by Padmaavat. It is steadily approaching the box office figures of War and Bajrangi Bhaijaan making it one of the highest grossing Hindi films in recent years.
Directed by Anurag Singh Border 2 is inspired by real events from the 1971 India Pakistan war and highlights the combined strength of the Indian Army Navy and Air Force. The film marks Sunny Deol’s return to the iconic uniform and features an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan Diljit Dosanjh Ahan Shetty Mona Singh Sonam Bajwa and others. Produced by Bhushan Kumar Krishan Kumar JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta the film is backed by T Series and JP Films and serves as a sequel to the 1997 classic Border.
