Brad Pitt experienced a health scare while filming a scene for his upcoming Formula 1 movie, leading to an immediate medical assessment. The Hollywood star, aged 59, was seen stumbling and eventually collapsing to the ground while dressed in full racing attire during a dramatic car crash scene. Crew members quickly assisted him as he fell onto a padded mat.
In other news, Spanish police apprehended five scammers who deceived two women out of €325,000 by pretending to be Brad Pitt online.
The highly anticipated film, set for a June 2025 release, features real F1 drivers and showcases Brad Pitt driving a specially adapted F2 car. Ahead of the final filming schedule, Brad Pitt, co-producing the film with F1 legend Lewis Hamilton, has been a frequent presence at Grand Prix events. On November 23, after George Russell secured pole position in the Vegas race, Pitt filmed a scene as his character Sonny Hayes.
Fans captured footage of Pitt unsteadily walking away from the crash site and collapsing onto a mat held by crew members. The 60-year-old actor stars alongside Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Kerry Condon, Sarah Niles, and Idris Elba in the film.
Pitt’s team swiftly released a health update, referring to him by his character’s name, Hayes: “During qualifying, Sonny sustained a significant impact requiring immediate medical evaluation. Incidents of this magnitude are always taken seriously, and Sonny’s health remains our top priority.”
APX GP added, “While Sonny is otherwise stable, he will not participate in tomorrow’s race as he focuses on recovery. The entire team stands behind him, and we’ll provide updates when available. Joshua Pearce will race solo tomorrow, carrying the team forward.”
The F1 movie was filmed at iconic tracks like Silverstone, Hungary, Spa, Monza, Zandvoort, Japan, Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi, and Mexico City. The production team was granted access to an empty garage at each circuit to create a realistic and immersive setting for the fictional team, APXGP.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for “Top Gun: Maverick,” with a script by Ehren Kruger and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the movie follows Pitt as a retired Formula One driver making a comeback, partnering with his teammate, played by Damson Idris, at APXGP.
“We want everyone to love it and to really feel that we encapsulate what the essence of this sport is all about – that’s our goal and I hope we can do you proud,” Hamilton said during a press conference at the 2023 British Grand Prix.
