Brad Pitt is reportedly still grappling with the emotional consequences of his long and turbulent divorce from Angelina Jolie, despite his public statements suggesting otherwise. While Pitt downplayed the finalization of the legal proceedings in a recent interview, insiders claim that the split left a significant mark on him both personally and emotionally.
Speaking to GQ, the Hollywood actor shared that the divorce, which officially concluded in late 2024, wasn’t something he considered monumental. “No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally,” Pitt remarked, adding that his private life has constantly been under public scrutiny for decades. “It’s been in the news for 30 years, bro. Or some version of my personal life, let’s put it that way.”
However, sources close to the actor have painted a different picture. One insider revealed to the Daily Mail that Pitt experienced intense emotional challenges as the legal battle with Jolie stretched over the years. “Brad’s had his fair share of meltdowns over the years as their feuding got more and more intense,” the source said.
The insider further claimed that while Pitt has suffered emotionally from the drawn-out battle, he’s chosen not to speak publicly about it in detail, especially out of concern that it might please Jolie. “He knows she’s had her struggles too, so he’s taking the high road,” the source added.
Pitt, known for his calm public demeanor, reportedly always tried to remain composed in front of Jolie. Their relationship, which began during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2003, grew into a marriage and a shared family of six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. But in 2016, Jolie filed for divorce following an alleged altercation on a private jet, where she accused Pitt of abuse. Pitt was later cleared of any wrongdoing by authorities.
In recent developments, some of the couple’s children have distanced themselves from Pitt. Shiloh filed legal paperwork to drop ‘Pitt’ from her last name, and Zahara and Vivienne have reportedly stopped using it in public. Pax even allegedly posted a harsh Father’s Day message describing Pitt in extremely negative terms.
The source highlighted that several issues led to the collapse of their relationship and Pitt’s emotional struggles—including battles over a French winery and, most significantly, their children. “The fact that Angie won them over is still a huge point of contention for Brad,” the source explained. “But he wants to act like none of it affected him. The reality is very different.”
Despite the personal turmoil, Pitt appears to have moved on romantically. He has been in a relationship with 32-year-old Ines de Ramon since 2022. The couple seems content, though Pitt reportedly has no intentions of marrying again.
