Brad Pitt Open to Teaming Up with Tom Cruise Again—But Only If There’s No High-Flying Stunt Work

Date:

Hollywood star Brad Pitt has finally opened up about the possibility of reuniting with Tom Cruise on the big screen—but with one clear stipulation. Known for his charm and grounded action performances, Pitt made it very clear in a recent interview with E! News that he won’t be joining Cruise for any daredevil aerial stunts. The actor, currently promoting his much-anticipated Formula 1 racing movie, laid it out with a laugh: “I’m not gonna hang my a** off the airplane and s**t like that.”

Pitt hinted that he would consider sharing screen space with Cruise again, but only if the film keeps its feet firmly planted on the ground. “When he does something again that’s on the ground,” he quipped, subtly referencing Cruise’s well-known reputation for gravity-defying stunts in the Mission: Impossible franchise, which includes everything from hanging off planes to skydiving and scaling skyscrapers.

The two megastars last appeared together in Interview with the Vampire back in 1994—a film that has since gained cult status. While the gothic drama had them as rival vampires, their off-screen antics were a bit more light-hearted. Pitt recalled how the rivalry extended to the racetrack: “We raced go-karts. He got me in the end. I gotta admit.”

Despite the competition, there’s clear mutual respect. At a Paramount event earlier this year, Tom Cruise publicly complimented Brad Pitt’s driving skills, particularly in light of his upcoming F1 racing movie, which is already generating buzz among motorsport fans.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski—best known for Top Gun: Maverick—the new F1 film features Pitt in the role of a seasoned driver mentoring a young rookie played by Damson Idris. Other cast members include Javier Bardem and Kerry Condon. Pitt has even picked up some quirky habits on set. He admitted he developed a very specific routine before getting into the race car: “I always have to get in on the left side. I have to put my left shoe on first, I’d have to put my left glove on first.”

According to the crew, they’ve adapted to Pitt’s habits and have fully embraced his routine. The racing drama, backed by Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, is set to hit theatres on June 27 and is expected to bring high-octane storytelling with authentic track action.

So while fans may still dream of another on-screen moment between Cruise and Pitt, they’ll have to wait for a script that sticks to the ground—literally.
