Apple and Warner Bros have unveiled the first teaser for the highly anticipated Brad Pitt film, set to release next year. In this exciting project directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame, Brad Pitt, now 60, stars as a former Formula 1 driver making a comeback alongside a rookie teammate played by London-born actor Damson Idris. Their fictional racing team is named APXGP.
The teaser provides a glimpse into the high-octane world of Formula 1 racing. Pitt’s character is shown immersed in the intense and competitive environment of the sport. He engages in a compelling dialogue with Kerry Condon’s character, his engineer, about designing a car focused more on performance and less on safety. “We need to build our car for combat,” Pitt’s character insists, highlighting the strategic aspect of racing, especially in navigating the track’s challenging corners. Condon’s character expresses concerns about safety, to which Pitt responds, “Who said anything about safe?”
Set to the powerful beats of Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” the teaser features thrilling point-of-view racing scenes, promising adrenaline-fueled action and showcasing the inherent risks of Formula 1 racing.
Brad Pitt resumed filming at the British Grand Prix, fully geared up in racing attire. This film represents a substantial investment for Apple, which acquired the package for around $130 million to $140 million, excluding talent fees.
The impressive cast includes Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo, alongside Pitt and Condon. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is a co-producer and has contributed to the script to ensure authenticity. Filming has taken place at various renowned F1 circuits worldwide, including Silverstone, the Hungaroring near Budapest, Spa Francorchamps in Belgium, Suzuka in Japan, and Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi.
