Brad Pitt’s hit racing drama continues to make waves as director Joseph Kosinski hints at a possible follow up to the globally successful Formula One movie. The high octane film follows Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes a veteran F1 racer who returns to the track with the fictional APXGP team. With the movie breaking major worldwide records fans have been eager to know if a second chapter is coming and Kosinski has finally addressed the speculation.
Speaking to Variety the filmmaker revealed that early creative discussions are underway. He explained that the team is imagining what the next chapter of Sonny Hayes and Apex GP could look like adding that the overwhelming global response to the film has encouraged the possibility of continuing the story. Kosinski also said that the cast and crew enjoyed making the movie and would gladly return for another round.
The blockbuster has shattered multiple records including crossing 600 million dollars at the global box office in August making it Apple’s highest grossing release in history and the biggest sports movie ever produced. Apple CEO Tim Cook also confirmed that conversations about a sequel are happening and praised Brad Pitt’s performance along with the film’s overall success.
Earlier reports revealed that the movie had surpassed the previous top earning Apple releases including Ridley Scott’s Napoleon and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Apple Original Films has confirmed that F1 The Movie will arrive for global streaming on Apple TV on December 12 giving fans another chance to experience the high speed drama.
