BTS leader RM (Kim Namjoon) has opened up about his thoughts on marriage, raising children, and the expectations society places on individuals — especially women. During a candid Weverse live session, the rapper shared that while he is now 32, he has not decided whether marriage is a part of his future.
RM expressed that modern relationships come with practical concerns and emotional challenges. He explained that people today feel pressured by the idea of marriage and starting a family, and he hopes everyone can follow their own timeline without being judged. He also highlighted how social norms and media often unfairly burden women with expectations surrounding motherhood and life choices.
Talking about loneliness, RM questioned whether marriage can truly resolve the feeling of being alone. He emphasized that choosing a lifelong partner should not be a way to escape loneliness, but a decision made with clarity and mutual understanding.
The BTS star also shared that he is unsure about having children, admitting that raising himself is already a challenge. He reflected on how mischievous he was growing up and joked that it would be difficult if a child like him were born to him. RM acknowledged that his generation is the first in Korea to see marriage as an option rather than a necessity.
Meanwhile, RM and his fellow BTS members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are currently preparing for their first full-group album in four years. The highly anticipated release — expected in Spring next year — marks their first record together since Proof in 2022, and fans are eagerly awaiting their return as a united seven-member team.
