Late actor Catherine O’Hara received a heartfelt tribute at the 2026 Screen Actors Guild Awards where she was posthumously awarded Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role in The Studio. The ceremony took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and was marked by an emotional standing ovation as her name was announced.

The award was accepted on her behalf by co-star and series creator Seth Rogen who paid tribute to her talent generosity and creative brilliance. During his speech he reflected on how O’Hara would thoughtfully suggest script improvements through detailed emails often enhancing scenes with her signature comedic instinct. He described her as proof that exceptional talent and kindness can exist together without compromise.

Rogen also encouraged audiences to revisit some of O’Hara’s most memorable performances including her iconic moments in Beetlejuice and Best in Show highlighting her physical comedy timing and unique screen presence. For many younger viewers she was equally beloved for her role in Schitt’s Creek while film fans continue to cherish her performance in Home Alone.

O’Hara passed away on January 30 at the age of 71 due to a pulmonary embolism. Her final major accolade at the Actor Awards formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards marked a poignant close to a celebrated career spanning decades.

The Actor Awards are presented by SAG AFTRA and are considered a significant indicator ahead of the Academy Awards as actors form the largest voting body within the Oscars. This year’s ceremony streamed live on Netflix with Kristen Bell returning as host.

Catherine O’Hara’s final win served not only as recognition of her performance in The Studio but also as a powerful reminder of the joy and artistry she shared with audiences worldwide.
