CMF by Nothing, the sub-brand of UK-based tech giant Nothing, is gearing up to unveil a new smartphone in India. The brand recently posted a teaser on social media, giving users a glimpse of the handset’s rear camera module. While the company has not officially confirmed the device’s name, speculation suggests that it could be the CMF Phone 2, a possible successor to last year’s CMF Phone 1. Additionally, a microsite for the upcoming smartphone has been launched on Flipkart, hinting at an imminent launch.
CMF Phone 2 Might Launch Soon
The official X (formerly Twitter) account of CMF by Nothing shared an image with a “Coming Soon” caption, showcasing the phone’s rear panel in the brand’s signature orange color. Unlike its predecessor, which featured a dual-camera system, the new device appears to have a single-camera setup, arranged vertically, with a flash positioned below the sensor.
While the launch date remains unannounced, rumors indicate that the CMF Phone 2 has been in development for weeks and could arrive soon. Leaks have also hinted at a triple-camera system, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. Last week, CMF also teased new products with Pokémon-themed posters, leading to speculation that the phone could be linked to the codename “Bulbasaur”.
Furthermore, Flipkart’s new microsite showcases the camera module of the upcoming smartphone with the tagline “In Search of the Perfect Shot.” The listing confirms that the phone will be sold exclusively via Flipkart.
CMF Phone 1 Recap & CMF Phone 2 Pricing Expectations
The first-ever CMF smartphone, the CMF Phone 1, launched in July 2024 at a starting price of ₹15,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. Based on previous pricing trends, the CMF Phone 2 is expected to be in a similar price bracket.
The CMF Phone 1 came with a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED LTPS display, supporting a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Under the hood, it ran on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G chipset, coupled with up to 8GB RAM. It featured a dual-camera system with a 50-megapixel Sony primary sensor and a portrait lens. The device housed a 5,000mAh battery, supporting 33W fast charging and 5W reverse wired charging. It also came with an IP52 rating, offering dust and splash resistance.
With the CMF Phone 2, the brand is expected to introduce enhanced specifications, possibly including a higher refresh rate display, a more powerful chipset, and an improved camera system. The launch details are expected to be officially revealed soon.
