Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make a high profile return to the United States as his recently hinted desire to meet President Donald Trump becomes a reality. The Portuguese football icon will visit the White House on Tuesday marking his first trip to the US in years. Reports from MS NOW reveal that three White House officials have confirmed the scheduled meeting which coincides with the visit of Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. President Trump noted that the day will honour Saudi Arabia during the Crown Prince’s appearance.
The meeting is expected to touch upon multiple subjects including the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the United States. However Ronaldo has already stated during a conversation with Piers Morgan that his central aim is to discuss global harmony. He expressed strong respect for Trump’s influence saying he hopes to share thoughts on achieving lasting peace while keeping the details private until their face to face discussion.
Ronaldo’s last appearance in the United States dates back to 2014 when he featured for Real Madrid in a match against Manchester United at Michigan Stadium. He was last pictured in the country in 2016 after Portugal’s triumphant Euro campaign. The forward may return to US soil again in March when Portugal meets the American national team in a friendly match. Despite facing an international suspension following a red card against Ireland which resulted in a three match ban he is still expected to play in the friendly before missing the first two matches of next summer’s World Cup.
