Daniel Radcliffe has shared that he personally reached out to Dominic McLaughlin the young actor taking on the role of Harry Potter in HBO’s upcoming reboot. Speaking on Good Morning America Radcliffe said he wrote a quiet note of encouragement as the new series officially moved into production. He explained that he did not expect any actor stepping into the role to contact him first but since he knew a few people involved with the project he felt it was right to send McLaughlin a warm message. According to Radcliffe the young star responded with a thoughtful reply which he described as a very sweet note.
Radcliffe emphasised that he wanted to offer support without overshadowing the new cast. He said his intention was simply to wish McLaughlin an enjoyable journey and to reassure him that stepping into the iconic role could be a memorable experience. The actor also mentioned that early images from the set reminded him of how young he had been when filming began in 2001 noting that he hopes the new cast is having a positive experience on set. The HBO reboot features a fresh lineup with Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron along with new faces portraying Draco Malfoy Parvati Patil Seamus Finnigan Neville Longbottom and Dudley Dursley.
Reports also highlight that Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden has set up a temporary school facility to ensure the child actors can continue their education during the lengthy production schedule. The series is designed to span several years with each season adapting one book from J K Rowling’s original series. HBO executives have described the project as a faithful adaptation aimed at exploring the depth and detail that the films were unable to include. Led by Francesca Gardiner as showrunner with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes the series is expected to premiere in 2027.
