Shawn Levy’s latest superhero collaboration, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, saw a significant drop in earnings on its first Monday in India. After a strong opening weekend, Monday’s earnings fell to ₹7 crore, a sharp decline from Sunday’s ₹22.30 crore. Despite a minor increase from Friday’s ₹21 crore to Saturday’s ₹22.65 crore, the film’s total Indian box office collection stands at ₹73.65 crore.

Internationally, the film’s success has been remarkable. According to Comscore Inc., the film earned $211.4 million in the US and Canada over the weekend, making it the year’s largest domestic debut. Additionally, it set a new record for an R-rated film’s opening weekend, doubling Joker’s initial earnings. Joker remains the highest-grossing R-rated movie, surpassing $1 billion at the box office since its 2019 release.

This third installment in the Deadpool series marks the continuation of the iconic characters after Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. The film has reinvigorated the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has struggled with recent releases like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels. Deadpool & Wolverine’s global earnings have reached $444.1 million, aiding Disney’s film division in regaining profitability after a two-year slump. The previous best opening weekend of the year in the US and Canada was held by Inside Out 2, which has grossed $1.51 billion since its release in June.
