1. Spicy Masala Oats
Ingredients:
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 medium tomato, finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds until they change color.
- Add green chilies and onion, sauté until the onion is golden.
- Add tomato and salt, cook covered for 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in red chili powder and turmeric powder.
- Add rolled oats and 4 cups water, cook for 4-5 minutes. Stir in 1 tablespoon coriander leaves.
- Serve hot, garnished with the remaining coriander leaves.
2. Oats Dosa
Ingredients:
- 1 cup split skinless black gram (urad dal), soaked for 2 hours and drained
- 2 tablespoons Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked for 1 hour and drained
- ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi dana), soaked for 1 hour and drained
- 1 cup oats
- Oil for drizzling
- Coconut chutney for serving
Method:
- Blend soaked black gram, Bengal gram, fenugreek seeds, oats, and 1 cup water to a fine paste. Ferment for 6-8 hours.
- Add salt and mix well.
- Heat a non-stick tawa. Pour a ladle of batter, spread into a disc, and drizzle with oil. Cook for 2 minutes, fold in half, and serve with coconut chutney.
