Authorities in Dubai have confirmed that nurseries across the emirate will begin a gradual return to in-person learning starting April 16, 2026. The decision was announced by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, following guidance from the Education Human Resources and Community Development Council.
The phased reopening applies initially to early childhood centres operating within government and commercial premises. However, nurseries must first secure approval from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority before resuming on-site activities.
Officials have emphasized that all institutions are required to strictly follow detailed health and safety protocols to ensure a secure and supportive environment for children, staff, and the wider community. The move marks a cautious step towards normalcy after a period of remote learning introduced as a precautionary measure.
In its official communication, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority highlighted that student and staff wellbeing remains the top priority. Authorities also advised parents and the public to rely only on verified government sources for updates and to avoid spreading unconfirmed information.
Further clarity on the reopening of primary and secondary schools is expected soon, as officials continue to review the situation on a regular basis. Meanwhile, earlier rumors circulating online about an extended period of distance learning were dismissed by the Ministry of Education UAE, confirming that decisions will be announced through official channels only.
The gradual reopening reflects Dubai’s careful approach to balancing education continuity with public health considerations, ensuring that young learners can safely return to classrooms.
