The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced extended Dubai Metro operating hours this weekend to accommodate participants and spectators of the Dubai Marathon on Sunday, February 1. On the day of the race both the Red Line and Green Line will run from 5am until midnight, giving commuters and visitors extra travel time.
Typically the Dubai Metro operates from 8am to midnight on Sundays but the RTA’s temporary extension adds five additional hours for easier mobility. This adjustment coincides with one of the city’s largest annual sporting events where thousands of runners take part in the marathon, 10km, and 4km fun run. The route begins opposite Madinat Jumeirah passes through Umm Suqeim Street and offers views of the iconic Burj Al Arab.
The RTA encourages residents and visitors to plan their journeys in advance and take advantage of the extended metro service for a smooth travel experience during the marathon. Some roads are expected to have closures and diversions particularly around Umm Suqeim Street to ensure the race proceeds safely and efficiently.
