Kevin Hart and Heidi Klum became the centre of online chatter after co-hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026 Draw in Washington D.C., with fans expressing disappointment over what they described as uncomfortable on-stage chemistry. Social media users reacted in large numbers, mocking the duo’s exchanges and calling the hosting style awkward and “cringe-inducing.”

During the event, co-hosts Mexico, Canada and the United States were allocated to Groups A, B and D, while defending champions Argentina entered Group J with Algeria, Austria and Jordan. Brazil joined Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti and Scotland in one of the early standout group announcements.

Online reactions quickly spread, with one viewer posting that the draw reached a “new level of cringe” due to the dynamic between Hart and Klum. Another user highlighted the “lack of chemistry” between the pair, adding humour by announcing relief when football legend Rio Ferdinand appeared on stage.

Spain, meanwhile, were placed in Group H with Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. The draw featured a star-studded audience including global celebrities and football icons. Rio Ferdinand served as the official draw conductor, and the event also saw former U.S. President Donald Trump receive FIFA’s first-ever peace prize.

In his acceptance speech, Trump praised the cooperation between the host nations and expressed gratitude for the recognition. He commended FIFA President Gianni Infantino and said global relations and safety had improved significantly.

Infantino, speaking about the scale of the upcoming tournament, promised that the 2026 edition would be the most spectacular event football has ever witnessed. With three host nations, 16 cities and 48 teams competing in 104 matches, he compared the tournament’s magnitude to “104 Super Bowls in a month,” emphasizing its historic scale.
