Focus Features has secured a new project titled Anything But Ghosts, a feature film created by rising filmmakers Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson. The duo, known for their online comedy success, have co-written the script, with Barker directing and both creators taking on acting roles in the film.

The project marks another collaboration between the studio and Barker, whose upcoming film Obsession is scheduled for release soon. While detailed plot information for Anything But Ghosts remains under wraps, it has been confirmed that Aaron Paul will join the cast, with Tomlinson leading the project.

Barker and Tomlinson gained popularity through their YouTube sketch channel That’s a Bad Idea, which has earned widespread attention and comparisons to the style of I Think You Should Leave. Their unique comedic approach helped them transition from digital content creators to major film projects.

Barker previously made waves with the low-budget viral horror project Milk & Serial, and has quickly become one of the most in-demand new filmmakers in the industry. His momentum continues with upcoming collaborations, including a new interpretation of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Tomlinson is also gaining recognition for his on-screen performances, particularly in Obsession, and is set to appear in The Dutton Ranch, expanding his presence in television.

The film will be produced by a powerhouse team including Jason Blum and Roy Lee, marking their first collaboration. Additional production support comes from Blumhouse Productions, Atomic Monster, and Spooky Pictures.

Backing for the project also includes Image Nation and the creators’ own brand, reinforcing strong industry confidence in the film.

With a blend of comedy roots and horror influences, Anything But Ghosts is shaping up to be a notable addition to the genre, driven by emerging talent and experienced producers.
