The world of Westeros expanded once again as fans gathered in São Paulo Brazil where the cast of the upcoming prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms took centre stage during a special panel at CCXP. Actors Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell who play Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire Prince Aegon Targaryen also known as Egg were officially introduced to the global fandom through a brand new trailer reveal and surprise greetings from two familiar Game of Thrones stars.
Nikolaj Coster Waldau celebrated for portraying Jaime Lannister sent a humorous message welcoming the newcomers and offered a tongue in cheek warning about surviving Westeros with all limbs intact. Fabien Frankel from House of the Dragon also shared words of encouragement reminding the new cast to choose their alliances wisely and stay sharp in a world built on Fire and Blood.
The event marked a major milestone for the six episode series which premieres on HBO on January 18 with weekly half hour episodes airing until February 22. Reports indicate that the show has already secured a renewal for a second season signaling strong confidence from the creators and network.
Set nearly 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones the story follows the adventures of the towering knight Ser Duncan the Tall and young Aegon long before he becomes a central figure in Targaryen history. The series is written and executive produced by George R R Martin with Ira Parker co creating the adaptation based on the beloved Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas.
The cast also features Daniel Ings Sam Spruell Bertie Carvel Finn Bennett Shaun Thomas and Henry Ashton bringing new depth and drama to the ever growing Westeros universe.
