Google Introduces Direct File Sharing with Gemini for Quick Analysis from Any Android App

Google has unveiled a new feature for its AI assistant, Gemini, enabling users to share documents directly from any Android app using the Android share sheet. This new functionality simplifies the process, eliminating the need to open Gemini and manually upload files for analysis. The update comes with Gemini’s Android app version 1.0.686588308 and supports up to 10 files for simultaneous analysis.

The new feature enhances convenience by allowing users to attach files via the Android share sheet by tapping the share icon and selecting Gemini from the options. This streamlines the workflow, enabling quick file analysis without navigating through the Gemini app’s file picker. According to the report by Android Authority, the feature accepts a variety of file formats including TXT DOC DOCX PDF RTF DOT DOTX HWP HWPX and code files such as C CPP PY JAVA PHP SQL and HTML. It also supports CSV and TSV tabular data files as well as XLS and XLSX spreadsheet files and all documents created in Google Docs and Sheets.

However, to utilize this feature, users need to have a Gemini Advanced subscription which is priced at Rs. 1950 per month in India. Gadgets 360 staff confirmed the presence of this feature in the Gemini app for Android.
