Google has expanded the conversational photo editing feature in Google Photos beyond the Pixel 10 series to include eligible Android smartphones in the United States. Initially introduced with the Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL during the Made By Google event on August 20, 2025, the AI-powered tool allows users to edit images using natural language prompts, powered by Google’s Gemini AI technology.
Users can activate the feature by selecting a photo in Google Photos, tapping Help Me Edit, and typing a descriptive text prompt to execute specific edits. Alternatively, the Make it Better button enables automatic enhancements without writing a prompt. The AI understands multiple instructions in a single prompt, intelligently applies changes, and can also execute follow-up voice commands for additional adjustments.
This functionality uses Gemini’s large language models (LLMs) to interpret user instructions and perform precise edits, eliminating the need for manual sliders or tool selections. It also offers general visual improvements, making photo editing more intuitive and accessible for all Android users. While the rollout currently targets the United States, Google has not yet announced an official release date for India or other regions.
By bringing this AI-powered tool to more devices, Google Photos continues to enhance mobile photography, providing an intelligent, conversational approach to image editing for Android users worldwide.
