Honor is preparing to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V5, with a strong emphasis on slim design and powerful hardware. Ahead of the official launch scheduled for July 2 in China, the company has released teaser images and revealed several key specifications of the device, including RAM, storage variants, and colour options.
According to Honor’s official Weibo handle and website, the Magic V5 will be offered in four striking shades: Dawn Gold, Silk Road Dunhuang, Velvet Black, and Warm White. The foldable device will be available in three configurations—12GB + 256GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB. What stands out most is the folded thickness of just 8.8mm, which could make it the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone at launch.
Honor’s last model, the Magic V3, had a folded thickness of 9.3mm, while rivals like the Vivo X Fold 5 are expected to measure 9.2mm folded. Even the Oppo Find N5, previously touted as the slimmest, measures 8.93mm when folded. By comparison, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumoured to have an 8.9mm folded form factor, making the Magic V5 the slimmest contender in this premium category.
The teaser images show the Magic V5 sporting a circular rear camera module with what appears to be a triple-lens setup. While specific camera specs haven’t been disclosed yet, it’s expected to rival other flagship foldables in imaging capabilities.
Under the hood, the Magic V5 is likely to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and is expected to support 66W fast wired charging for its 6,100mAh battery. Display-wise, the phone might feature a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED cover screen and an expansive 8-inch 2K inner display, offering immersive visuals for both productivity and entertainment.
With support for an IPX8 water-resistant rating, the Honor Magic V5 combines durability with sleek engineering. It is also expected to support the latest in foldable software experiences, positioning it as a high-performance device in an increasingly competitive market.
The launch of the Honor Magic V5 not only strengthens Honor’s foldable portfolio but also reinforces the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries in design and innovation. More detailed specifications are expected at the official unveiling event in China.
