The upcoming Honor Magic V5 foldable smartphone has been spotted on China’s MIIT and 3C certification sites, hinting at several major upgrades over its predecessor, the Honor Magic V3. While Honor is reportedly planning to skip the V4 model, the Magic V5 appears poised to become one of the most advanced book-style foldables on the market.
The phone, listed under model number MBH-AN10, is shown to feature a dual-cell battery setup—one rated at 2,070mAh and the other at 3,880mAh—resulting in a combined rated capacity of around 5,950mAh. Sources speculate that the company may promote the phone with a typical battery capacity of 6,100mAh, which would set a new benchmark for battery life in foldable smartphones.
Certification details further suggest that the Honor Magic V5 will support 66W wired fast charging, maintaining the same rapid-charging performance as the Magic V3. The device may also support wireless charging and is expected to include satellite communication features and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security.
In terms of design, the Magic V5 is said to feature a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED external display alongside a larger 8-inch 2K internal foldable screen. Both panels are likely to support a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering a smooth viewing experience.
Under the hood, the foldable may be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, offering flagship performance. On the software front, the phone is also expected to integrate AI advancements through Honor’s Yoyo Assistant and could be part of the company’s broader Alpha AI ecosystem strategy.
Camera specifications could include a 50MP main lens with optical image stabilization (OIS), an ultra-wide sensor, and a high-resolution 200MP periscope telephoto camera, catering to professional-grade photography needs.
The official launch timeline is anticipated for late May or early June 2025. If these leaks hold true, the Honor Magic V5 could significantly raise the bar in the foldable phone segment with its powerful specs, massive battery, and advanced AI integrations.
