Honor is reportedly preparing to launch a new smartphone that could redefine battery life expectations in the mobile industry. According to industry leaks, the upcoming handset—speculated to be named the Honor Power 2—may come equipped with the yet-to-be-released MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset and a massive 10,000mAh battery. If true, this would make it one of the largest battery capacities ever seen in a mainstream smartphone.
The leak originates from noted tipster Digital Chat Station, who shared details on Chinese social platform Weibo. The source claims that the device has entered the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase, marking its transition from design and testing into preparation for mass production. While the official name has not been confirmed, multiple reports suggest that the model could be the direct successor to the Honor Power, which launched in April 2025 with an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery.
Interestingly, the same tipster had previously hinted at a smartphone being developed by a China-based manufacturer with a 10,000mAh battery, possibly maintaining a slim profile under 8.5mm in thickness. Such a feat would likely be achieved using advancements in battery materials, possibly silicon-carbon technology.
Honor isn’t alone in the race for ultra-high-capacity batteries. Rival brand Redmi is also rumored to be working on a device boasting between 8,500mAh and 9,000mAh, using an improved silicon-carbon cell to retain a sleek form factor while maximizing battery life.
If the Honor Power 2 does arrive with these specifications, it could set a new benchmark for endurance smartphones, targeting power users, travelers, and professionals who need exceptional battery backup without sacrificing portability.
