Tender chicken strips are marinated in a spicy and tangy mixture, then carefully coated with boiled noodles or thin pastry strips and deep-fried to a golden crisp. This dish combines juicy chicken with a delicate crunchy exterior, making it irresistible for both kids and adults.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
- 500 grams boneless chicken
- 4–5 tablespoons corn flour
- 1 egg
- 200 grams boiled noodles (or 10–12 spring roll wrappers/samosa sheets cut into thin strands)
For the Marinade:
- 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- ½ teaspoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce or tomato chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon Schezwan sauce or chili sauce
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Boil noodles until tender, drain, and let them cool. If using spring roll wrappers or samosa sheets, slice them into thin noodle-like strands.
- Clean and cut the chicken into medium-sized strips.
- In a large bowl, mix all the marinade ingredients, add chicken strips, and marinate for at least 2 hours.
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of corn flour over the noodles to keep them dry and prevent sticking while frying.
- Add the remaining corn flour and the egg to the marinated chicken and mix thoroughly.
- Carefully coat each chicken strip with the prepared noodles or pastry strands.
- Heat oil in a kadhai over low to medium flame and deep-fry the coated chicken until golden brown and crispy.
