Huawei has officially introduced the Huawei FreeBuds 7i in China as the latest addition to its popular TWS earphones lineup. Launched alongside the Huawei Mate XTs triple-folding smartphone, the new earbuds bring advanced noise cancellation, spatial audio, gesture controls, and extended battery life, positioning them as a strong upgrade over the previously released Huawei FreeBuds 6i.
The FreeBuds 7i feature 11mm quad-magnet dynamic drivers paired with an 8 sq mm air chamber designed to minimise noise and enhance audio clarity. They also support spatial audio with head-tracking for a 360-degree immersive experience. A 10-band EQ with multiple audio presets allows users to customise their sound profile. For calls, the earphones use a bone-conduction microphone along with an AI-powered noise reduction system capable of suppressing up to 90dB of background noise, ensuring clear conversations even in busy environments.
Huawei has equipped the FreeBuds 7i with Smart Dynamic Noise Cancellation 4.0, utilising three microphones and a large air duct chamber for advanced ANC performance. The system delivers up to 28dB of full-band noise reduction, adapts to surroundings within 0.5 seconds, and reduces latency by up to 50 percent.
The earbuds also offer gesture and voice controls through Huawei’s Xiaoyi assistant. Users can manage calls, alarms, and music hands-free, while gestures like nodding to accept calls or shaking to reject them make daily use more intuitive. Standard touch controls allow for playback, volume adjustment, and ANC mode switching.
Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 5.4, with codec support for SBC, AAC, LDAC, and L2HC 2.0. The FreeBuds 7i carry an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, making them suitable for outdoor and fitness use.
In terms of battery life, each earbud houses a 55.5mAh cell, while the charging case includes a 510mAh battery. Huawei claims up to eight hours of playback without ANC (five with ANC) and up to 35 hours of total use with the case (20 with ANC). Fast charging support allows for four hours of playback in just 10 minutes of charging. Each earbud weighs just 5.4g, and the charging case weighs 36.5g.
The Huawei FreeBuds 7i is priced at CNY 599 (approx. Rs. 7,400) and is currently available in grey, pink, and white color options via Huawei’s official China e-store. A global launch is expected in the coming months.
