The upcoming Huawei Mate 80 series is rumored to introduce advanced in-display 3D face recognition technology, a feature that could significantly enhance security and privacy for users. According to recent reports shared by a tipster on social media, this innovative facial recognition technology, initially speculated to be part of the Mate 70 series, is now expected to be a highlight of the Mate 80 series, which might launch late next year.

The tipster, known as Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, shared insights suggesting that the Mate 80 series could be the first in Huawei’s lineup to feature an in-display 3D facial recognition sensor. Although the Mate 70 series, rumored to debut before the end of this year, is expected to include 3D face recognition as a standard across all its variants, the more advanced technology is likely to be reserved for its successor.

In addition to the Mate 80 series, Huawei is reportedly preparing to unveil its first-ever tri-fold smartphone. Recently seen in the hands of Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, the device is speculated to have a 10-inch inner screen that can be folded three times. The tri-fold phone, potentially powered by a Kirin 9 series processor, is expected to offer a unique blend of large screen size and manageable thickness. Like the Mate 80, this handset is also rumored to be entering mass production soon.
