Recently, Inside Out 2 voice actor Paul Walter Hauser criticized Vin Diesel for his alleged unprofessional behavior on set, making it clear he didn’t appreciate being compared to him. Now, Paul has taken to Instagram to apologize for his comments, admitting that they were unnecessarily harsh and unwarranted.
In his statement posted on Sunday, Paul explained, “A few weeks ago, I made an offhand comment about Vin Diesel. What began as a humorous remark devolved into a harsh critique based on behavior I had heard about from various sources.”
He continued, “I had just finished a night shoot on a Friday, got only an hour of sleep, and then flew from Atlanta to Los Angeles for a full day of press for Inside Out 2. Exhausted, I let my fatigue get the better of me and made a careless, mean-spirited comment. Unfortunately, that comment was recorded and quickly went viral.”
Paul then expressed his regret, saying, “I am truly sorry for making that comment. It’s true that certain behaviors I’ve witnessed or heard about can be frustrating, and ‘outing’ someone might feel satisfying in the moment. However, as a self-proclaimed Christian, I need to focus more on loving people and less on trying to ‘correct’ wrongs or letting my ego take over. This kind of behavior isn’t helpful to our culture and can harm others. @vindiesel – I apologize. Thank you for entertaining countless people and bringing them joy. I’m striving to do the same. It’s time for me to keep quiet. I sometimes talk myself into foolishness.”
Previously, Paul had voiced his displeasure at being compared to Vin Diesel, who is known for his role as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy. In Inside Out 2, Paul lends his voice to the character of Embarrassment.
