Apple has begun rolling out the first developer beta of iOS 26.2, marking the next stage of updates planned for eligible iPhone models. This early release highlights a dedicated Enhanced Safety Alerts feature designed to give users in supported regions more flexibility in managing critical notifications related to emergencies and environmental risks.

Within the beta, users can navigate to Settings and locate the Enhanced Safety Alerts section under Notifications. From there, they can choose to receive alerts for seismic activity or urgent danger warnings. Apple has also introduced a privacy control that allows sharing of an approximate location only when necessary. A new alert tone has been added as well, joining existing options found under the Government Alerts menu including AMBER Alerts Public Safety Alerts Emergency Alerts and Test Alerts. Additionally, Reminder alarms can now be categorized using the Urgent label which improves visibility and allows users to snooze or dismiss alerts efficiently.

The update reportedly enhances the Liquid Glass lock screen customization options and provides noticeable improvements to Sleep Score tracking with clearer categories for performance insights. Apple is also expanding AirPods support for Live Translation to more European Union regions enabling real-time language assistance for a growing number of users. Other changes expected in the software include automatic chapter creation for podcasts along with refined system performance and stability improvements.

iOS 26.2 Beta 1 carries build number 23C5027f and was released shortly after the public rollout of iOS 26.1. The earlier update addressed visibility concerns with Liquid Glass and introduced additional translation languages including Chinese Japanese Korean and Italian. Apple also strengthened parental control protections by adding filtering measures against adult web content on child accounts. The final release of iOS 26.2 is anticipated in December for all devices supporting the iOS 26 platform.
