Fresh leaks suggest that Apple is preparing notable camera improvements for its next premium smartphones. The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are tipped to arrive with a significantly upgraded selfie camera and a refined Dynamic Island design when they launch later this year. The devices are expected to replace the iPhone 17 Pro lineup and could be unveiled alongside Appleās first foldable iPhone.
According to new industry chatter the iPhone 18 Pro models may feature a 24 megapixel front-facing camera designed to deliver sharper selfies and clearer video calls. This would mark a step up from the 18 megapixel selfie camera introduced with the iPhone 17 series in 2025. While Apple has not officially confirmed the upgrade sources believe the new sensor could improve low light performance and video quality for FaceTime and social content.
The upgraded selfie camera is also said to be placed within a smaller Dynamic Island cutout. This design change could result in a cleaner looking display while keeping key features such as notifications and Live Activities intact. Some reports also claim that the Face ID sensors may be repositioned slightly to allow for the reduced Dynamic Island size although this remains unconfirmed.
Leaks further suggest that Apple has already moved the iPhone 18 Pro series into production testing. The materials and overall build are expected to be similar to the current generation models indicating a focus on internal upgrades rather than a radical redesign. Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are believed to share similar hardware specifications.
In terms of display the iPhone 18 Pro could sport a 6.27 inch LTPO screen with a 120Hz refresh rate while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature a larger 6.86 inch LTPO display offering the same smooth scrolling experience. Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro lineup in September 2026 alongside the rumoured iPhone Fold with more details likely to surface closer to launch.
