The wicketkeeper-batter played a blistering knock of 53 runs off just 20 balls retiring out to allow other teammates valuable time in the middle. Batting with fearless intent Kishan struck at an impressive rate of 265 showcasing his form ahead of the global tournament.
After the match Kishan revealed that he was eager to open the innings but remained flexible with his role in the team. He explained that while opening is his preference he is comfortable batting at number three and is focused on contributing wherever the team requires. Emphasising a simple mindset Kishan said his approach revolves around staying present watching the ball closely and reacting naturally rather than overthinking his game.
The left-hander credited the pitch conditions for allowing free stroke play and highlighted the importance of trusting the bounce especially with the World Cup approaching. He stressed that confidence is key even when fielders are placed well and backing oneself is essential at this level. Kishan also spoke about the team balance praising Tilak Varma’s all-round value noting his ability to rotate strike contribute with the ball and add athleticism in the field.
India posted a massive total of 240 for six in their 20 overs powered by Kishan’s rapid half-century. In response the Indian bowlers managed to restrict South Africa to 210 for seven securing a comfortable win. Despite acknowledging areas for improvement Kishan felt the bowling effort was disciplined and effective on a challenging surface making it a positive outing overall for the team.
