World number one Jannik Sinner is set to lose out on a share of the ATP’s £15.5 million Bonus Pool after missing multiple mandatory Masters 1000 events this season, largely due to his earlier doping suspension. The Italian tennis star, who dominated the 2024 season and topped the Bonus Pool standings last year, has struggled to meet participation requirements in 2025.
The ATP’s Bonus Pool system, introduced in 2023, rewards the top 30 men’s players who accumulate the most points in the Masters 1000 series each year. With only nine events on the calendar, attendance is critical, and players who skip more than three mandatory tournaments are automatically excluded from prize eligibility.
Sinner currently ranks 16th in the standings, having entered just two Masters 1000 tournaments this season—the Rome Masters, where he reached the final, and the ongoing Cincinnati Masters. His absence from key events in Miami, Indian Wells, Madrid, and Toronto means he has crossed the four-tournament threshold, disqualifying him from the bonus pool.
Three of those missed tournaments occurred during his high-profile suspension earlier this year, which kept him out of several major competitions but not the Grand Slams. His decision to withdraw from Toronto followed back-to-back deep runs at the French Open and Wimbledon, the latter of which he won.
While Sinner remains a force on the court, this development marks a significant financial setback. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz leads the current Bonus Pool rankings by 500 points, followed by Jack Draper and Lorenzo Musetti.
