Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston has opened up about her long-standing fear of flying and how she is gradually learning to manage it. In a recent conversation with E! News, the 56-year-old actress revealed that she has been relying on hypnosis and meditation as tools to help ease her anxiety during air travel. Known for her performances in popular films and shows such as Friends and We’re the Millers, Jennifer shared her personal experience of letting go of old superstitions and embracing new calming techniques.
Jennifer explained that part of the hypnosis treatment required her to abandon some deeply rooted habits she once believed kept her safe while flying. This included tapping the outside of the aircraft with her right hand and boarding with her right foot. “I have been doing some hypnosis lately and one of the requirements is to remove all of those superstitions. I have not been doing the right hand right foot—and now it’s shockingly good!” she said.
To stay calm during flights, Jennifer also turns to meditation. She finds that plugging into a guided meditation helps ease her mind. Additionally, she likes to get up during the flight to walk around and stretch, which gives her a sense of control and comfort.
Despite her anxiety, Jennifer maintains a strong love for travel. She mentioned that her ideal vacation involves white sandy beaches and clear crystal-blue waters. Travelling is not just an escape for her—it’s a meaningful experience that brings her closer to loved ones and the beauty of the world.
She fondly recalled one of her most cherished travel memories—a birthday getaway with around 50 friends. “I said ‘Whoever wants to come let’s do this’ and a lot of them did,” she recalled. The trip was filled with laughter relaxation swimming and bonding over three unforgettable days.
Jennifer believes that travelling helps broaden one’s perspective. Having grown up with Central Park as her closest exposure to nature she now treasures the opportunity to experience the world beyond her immediate surroundings. “There’s more that exists than just this little bubble that we are in. It’s all very important and expands our awareness greater than what we’re confined to,” she said.
