Jeremy Renner’s legal team has firmly denied filmmaker Yi Zhou’s statement that the two had reached a “respectful resolution,” stating that no such agreement exists and accusing her of presenting a false narrative. According to reports from TMZ, Zhou had earlier suggested that she and the actor were ready to move past recent disputes to continue collaborating on their upcoming projects Chronicles of Disney and Stardust Future. Renner’s attorney Marty Singer has now clarified that her version of events is inaccurate.
Zhou previously claimed she appreciated the “peaceful and mutually respectful resolution,” crediting Singer for facilitating discussions. She expressed hope that both sides could continue creating impactful work. However, Renner’s lawyer said this portrayal is not true, stressing that the actor has substantial multi-million dollar claims against Zhou and that no settlement had been reached. Singer emphasized that Zhou’s statements were entirely fabricated, including her suggestion that Renner had agreed to appear in one of her animated projects when he had only committed to a documentary.
Following the attorney’s rebuttal, Zhou responded through Instagram, saying she believed their discussions indicated mutual understanding but alleged she was being pressured to retract her previous statements, something she refused to do. Zhou insisted her comments reflected her personal experience and expressed a desire to move forward peacefully.
This dispute follows Zhou’s earlier allegations posted on November 7, where she accused the actor of sending inappropriate images and threatening to contact U.S. immigration authorities after she confronted him about his conduct. Zhou stated the messages were unsolicited and said the incident left her distressed. She also claimed the two had briefly dated and shared supporting photos online.
