The legal dispute between Justin Baldoni and Ryan Reynolds has intensified as Baldoni’s lawyer strongly criticized Reynolds’ motion to dismiss the $400 million defamation lawsuit. In a statement shared with People Magazine on Wednesday, Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman accused the Deadpool star of trying to evade responsibility, stating that Reynolds is attempting to “run from the flames.”
Freedman argued that Reynolds’ involvement in the situation was far greater than simply being a “supportive spouse” and accused him of playing a key role in what he referred to as a smear campaign against Baldoni and the Wayfarer team.
Legal Battle Between Baldoni and Reynolds
Freedman emphasized that Reynolds’ influence and participation in the controversy have been documented from the beginning, stating, “His fingerprints are all over this from day one.” The attorney further claimed that the Red Notice actor’s attempt to downplay the issue as merely a case of “hurt feelings” sends a damaging message about bullying and accountability.
“After lighting the match, Mr. Reynolds now wants to escape from the consequences, but it won’t work,” Freedman asserted, adding that the Wayfarer team will pursue justice relentlessly.
The heated legal exchange comes after Reynolds formally filed a motion on Tuesday, arguing that Baldoni’s lawsuit is baseless and built on emotional grievances rather than legitimate legal claims.
Despite the filing, Baldoni’s legal team has vowed to continue the fight, with Freedman stating, “Ryan Reynolds can try to joke about this in sketch shows, but we will not stop until he is held accountable for his actions.”
This high-profile case continues to draw attention as both parties stand firm on their positions, with no sign of resolution in sight.
