Football legend Lionel Messi is officially set to visit India in December 2025 for his much-anticipated GOAT Tour of India 2025. The Inter Miami superstar will kick off his journey in Kolkata on December 12 before heading to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi. This will mark Messi’s first trip to India since 2011 when he played a friendly match against Venezuela at Kolkata’s iconic Salt Lake Stadium.
The tour will feature multiple cultural and fan engagement events, including a special meet-and-greet on December 13 at the Taj Bengal Hotel, where Messi will be treated to a unique blend of Argentine mate tea and Indian Assam tea. Fans can also expect a Bengali culinary experience with hilsa fish and traditional sweets.
Promoter Satadru Dutta confirmed the visit after receiving official authorization. Messi is expected to post the official tour announcement between August 28 and September 1, along with a promotional poster and a personal message. According to reports, Inter Miami teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Rodrigo De Paul might join him, although their participation has not yet been confirmed.
Messi will also meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi on December 15, highlighting the significance of this visit. One of the tour’s cultural highlights will be the unveiling of a 25-foot by 20-foot mural dedicated to Messi during Durga Puja festivities, allowing fans to contribute their own messages before it is presented to him during the GOAT Concert. Additionally, Messi’s largest-ever statue will be revealed in India as part of the celebrations.
