Lucknow Super Giants have addressed the growing controversy surrounding team owner Sanjiv Goenka and captain Rishabh Pant by releasing what they called an “unedited” video of their post-match interaction. The move came after a short clip without audio went viral on social media, sparking widespread speculation.
The incident followed LSG’s six-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Stadium, where the home side struggled with the bat and managed a modest total of 142. Despite a brief fightback while defending the score, Delhi comfortably chased down the target with overs to spare, thanks to a composed innings from Sameer Rizvi.
However, the focus quickly shifted away from the match to a video showing an animated discussion between Goenka and Pant, with head coach Justin Langer also present. The clip drew comparisons to a similar episode involving former captain KL Rahul in a previous season, which had faced heavy criticism for appearing confrontational.
As online reactions intensified, LSG’s official social media account shared a longer version of the exchange, aiming to present a clearer picture. The franchise suggested that the viral clip did not capture the full context and that the interaction was being misinterpreted.
In the extended footage, although the audio remained unclear, the visuals indicated a more relaxed atmosphere. Pant and Goenka were seen interacting calmly and even sharing a friendly hug afterward, hinting that there was no visible conflict between the two.
While Goenka did not directly comment on the controversy, he later posted a message emphasizing trust in the team and the importance of staying focused throughout the long tournament. He expressed confidence in Pant’s leadership and reassured fans that the team would bounce back stronger.
With the clarification now out, LSG will aim to put the episode behind them and concentrate on their upcoming fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad, as they look to improve both their on-field performance and maintain a positive team environment.
