The fate of the Fast & Furious franchise remains uncertain, as Ludacris, who plays tech expert Tej, has admitted he has no information on when the next installment will begin production. In a recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the actor-rapper revealed that even he is waiting for updates, hinting at possible delays for fans eagerly anticipating the series’ grand conclusion.
Ludacris, known for his long-standing role in the multi-billion-dollar franchise, addressed the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming film. He acknowledged that Fast X ended on a major cliffhanger, and with the series set to conclude in a two-part finale, fans are left speculating about its future. Although director Louis Leterrier remains attached to the project and lead actor Vin Diesel has promised an epic send-off, Universal has yet to confirm production details, keeping the timeline unclear.
“I’m waiting for updates myself. I wish I had something to share, but I wouldn’t want to give incorrect information. All I know is that we have been working hard to ensure the final installment delivers everything the audience expects,” Ludacris shared.
Speaking with US Weekly, he also reflected on the franchise’s journey and legacy: “The 25th anniversary of the very first movie is coming up, and there are rumors about one more installment. So, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
Recently, the 47-year-old actor appeared alongside Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez in a Super Bowl advertisement. Commenting on the strong bond within the cast, he emphasized that their connection extends beyond the films. “We don’t use the word ‘family’ lightly. We truly mean it. Unlike many movie franchises where actors go their separate ways after filming, we continue to meet and spend time together, even outside of work,” he said.
Discussing why the franchise remains popular, Ludacris noted its deep-rooted impact on audiences. “Fast & Furious is more than just a film series—it’s a global phenomenon. Whether through new installments or spin-offs, the love for car culture and the characters will always keep it alive. Fans resonate with these stories, and in many ways, they live vicariously through them,” he concluded.
