Motorists across Dubai are being urged to plan ahead this weekend, as several major roads will temporarily close to accommodate the highly anticipated Dubai Run 2025. The annual fitness event, part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, will see tens of thousands of runners take over the city’s main routes as they pass iconic landmarks in a large-scale community race.
With participation numbers expected to surge, authorities have introduced extended road closure hours to ensure safety for runners, spectators, and support teams. Residents heading out late Saturday night or early Sunday morning are advised to check alternative routes to avoid delays and congestion.
The Roads and Transport Authority confirmed that closures will begin on the evening of Saturday November 22, continuing into Sunday November 23. Key parts of Sheikh Zayed Road, surrounding service lanes, and major routes around Downtown Dubai and Business Bay will be inaccessible during the event’s operational hours.
The temporary shutdown will impact several stretches of central Dubai, including routes connecting the Museum of the Future, Dubai World Trade Centre, Burj Khalifa Junction, and Al Safa Park. With parking restrictions also in effect, commuters are encouraged to rely on public transportation or allow additional travel time.
Dubai Run remains one of the flagship events of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, launched in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, encouraging the community to embrace an active lifestyle. Numerous free fitness events will continue across the city throughout the month.
