Manchester City Striker Erling Haaland Sidelined with Ankle Injury After FA Cup Clash

Date:

Manchester City has suffered a major setback as star forward Erling Haaland faces time on the sidelines due to an ankle injury sustained during their FA Cup quarter-final victory against Bournemouth.

The Norwegian striker scored his 30th goal of the season to equalize in the match before suffering the injury in a challenge with Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook. Following the incident, City’s medical team conducted preliminary tests on Monday, and Haaland will now consult a specialist to assess the full extent of the injury.

Manchester City Confirms Haaland’s Injury Status

Despite City’s ongoing push for Champions League qualification, manager Pep Guardiola will have to adjust his squad for crucial upcoming fixtures against Leicester City and Manchester United this week. The club will also face Crystal Palace and Everton before their FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest at Wembley on April 26.

The club has not provided an exact timeline for Haaland’s return, but there is optimism that he will be back in action before the season ends. A statement from Manchester City’s official website confirmed:

With Haaland’s absence, City will need to find solutions in attack as they navigate a crucial phase of the season.
